Welcome!

Hello, and thanks for stopping in!  My name is Ash Desjardin (they /them), and I'm a Professional Makeup Artist located in the NE, Calgary, AB. 

For roughly 12 years, I've been doing face and body painting as a hobby and creative outlet. In 2017, I decided to try to make a potential career out of it, and went back to school for Master Makeup Artistry, and Special Effects Makeup.  

Originally I had intended on only specializing in SFX, with the makeup artistry as a knowledge supplement, but along the way I fell in love with the beauty and versatility of makeup.  

To be able to work with someone, and create art with them whatever the end goal was brought me immense joy, and I learned just how much a makeup application could impact someone; Whether it be a confidence boost, the joy of a great look for a shoot, or even sometimes simply validation when you look how you feel inside. 

Once I received my certifications, I started building my business, and was licensed as of Spring 2023.  

The next steps in my journey are to work towards joining my local IATSE chapter, with the end goal of being a SFX artist for Film and Television. There will always be more to learn and do, and I cannot wait to see where this road goes.  I hope you'll join me along the way!
